We were able to build a home that met our needs and with a builder who had the resources to let us design it to our perfection. The John Houston experience is what homebuilding should be like for families.
When you choose to build a home or even buy a home, you invest more than your savings. You invest your time and your heart into this process. So, “Location, Location, Location” should be followed by a close second, “Builder, Builder, Builder.” Choosing the right people to work with is the key when you are investing so much.
We always knew we wanted to build our home. We dreamt of choosing our colors, picking a floorplan and adding personal touches to where we hope to live the rest of our lives. We originally chose a different builder and had quite a bumpy road. We had already begun the process with first builder when we first contacted JH Custom Homes. We drove through several neighborhoods seeking ideas for our home and every time we drove through a division, it was the John Houston Homes that caught our attention. This prompted us to send their marketing team a facebook message inquiring about their plans and other details. Knowing we were not building with them, Meagan, with John Houston, graciously took the time to provide us with the selections and plans for two of their recent builds. We came to realize that our builder could not get the selections we desired and they didn’t have the resources to build what we wanted. After a lot of back and forth attempting to get what we really wanted in our home, we were forced to start over with a new builder. We could say we wasted a lot of time with the wrong builder, but it was a blessing in disguise. The bumpy journey with the wrong builder led us to the right builder.
Meagan impressed us so much when she took the time to help us that it was an easy decision to start with John Houston. Plus, we were in love with the homes they had already built. Out driving around and feeling hopeful, we gave Meagan a call. She directed us to our salesperson, Melanie. We couldn’t have asked for more knowledgeable and resourceful people to work with. From start to finish, everyone we talked with and worked with were on the same page. Melanie, Ami (their in-house designer) and Scott (our superintendent) were all compassionate, approachable and diligent. As busy as we know they were, they never let you see it. It was like we were the only house they were building. Any bumps that did pop up were resolved because Melanie and Scott always did what was right and were available when we needed them. In fact, Melanie made us feel like she worked for us and not John Houston. I felt like she had our best interest in mind with everything she did for us. Scott, our superintendent would stop every time he saw us out at the house and worked hard to make sure everything turned out exactly like we wanted it. And it did.
In the end, we were able to build a home that met our needs and with a builder who had the resources to let us design it to our perfection. The John Houston experience is what homebuilding should be like for families and it doesn’t stop when you close. I still honk my horn and wave when I see Melanie or Scott in the neighborhood. It’s the people that make the company. John Houston is good people.
