4 Family Friendly Ways to Ring in 2017 at Home

The New Year is almost upon us...can you believe it!? If you're like me, you'll be spending New Year's Eve at home with your family and staying clear of all the craziness that often accompanies this holiday. But New Year's Eve can still be fun and exciting from home! Check out these 4 fun ways to ring in 2017 at home with your family from us here at John Houston Custom Homes.

1. Netflix Countdown: I'm leading off with my most favorite thing...the Netflix Countdown. This is just a genius idea! Netflix has multiple family friendly characters that will do a countdown to the New Year at any time of night when you push play. If bed time is 9:00pm, let your kids feel like they are staying up for the real deal with this fun little countdown they will love!

2. Make Your Own Party Poppers: This year we will be making some super fun party poppers to use during our countdown that are easy, inexpensive and fun! The first step is my favorite part...buy push pops and eat the ice cream. Yum! Clean out the containers and glue fun paper or wrapping paper to the outside. Fill with glitter and confetti then cover with lightly glued on tissue paper. Push the pops to celebrate the ball drop and out comes the party!

3.  Freeze Dance Party: Want to make sure that your kiddos are completely worn out and ready for a good nights sleep? Freeze Dance Party is so much fun! Grab some glow sticks from the Dollar Tree before hand and then tune into your favorite kid friendly playlist.   Kidz Bop 33  and the  Trolls soundtrack  is currently our favorite but any music will do. Turn off your lights, hand out the glow sticks and turn up the jams! Sporadically throughout the song, turn the music all the way down and everyone freezes in their positions a la The Mannequin challenge and listen as the giggles ensue.

4. Family Verse: Everyone loves to create resolutions this time of year that they will no doubt have completely forgotten about by March if that long. That's why a family verse that your family can come to together and focus and pray on throughout the year is a great alternative. Come together and choose a verse on New Year's Eve, print it out, frame it and keep it in a spot you can all see throughout the year. Such a great way to ensure that your family will be united with the same focus throughout the coming year.

As we say good bye to 2016 and welcome in 2017, we at   John Houston Custom Homes  would just like to say thank you to all of our customers for allowing us to help build your story. It is the desire of our hearts to not only build you a quality home but to build a lifelong relationship with you and we are grateful for that opportunity. Wishing you and yours a healthy and blessed 2017.

In the vast expanse of Texas, nestled among rolling hills and lush landscapes, lies the charming town of Grandview. A community brimming with warmth and opportunity, Grandview offers a tranquil lifestyle with a focus on quality education and thriving athletic programs. For parents seeking a nurturing environment where their children can flourish, here are the top three reasons why moving to Grandview could be the best decision for your family and why the Vista Point community is a great place to live and raise a family! 1. Grandview ISD: An A-Rated School District One of the primary concerns for any parent is ensuring their child receives an excellent education. In Grandview, parents can rest assured knowing that their children will attend schools within the Grandview Independent School District (ISD), which boasts an impressive A rating. This distinction reflects the district's commitment to academic excellence and student success. With a dedicated team of educators and staff, Grandview ISD provides a supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. Beyond the accolades, what truly sets Grandview ISD apart is its focus on personalized learning and individualized attention. Unlike larger school districts where students may feel lost in the crowd, Grandview offers smaller class sizes, allowing for more meaningful interactions between students and teachers. This intimate setting fosters stronger relationships, personalized instruction, and a sense of belonging that is invaluable to a child's academic journey.
